Impacts of Mixing Mode on Photocatalytic Reduction of Hexavalent Chromium over Titanium Dioxide Nanomaterial under Various Environmental Conditions

This study explores the effects of initial Cr(VI) concentration, wavelength, hole-scavenger (absence and presence salicylic acid), oxygen conditions (aeration by air, nitrogen gas, mechanical stir only) on photocatalytic reduction hexavalent chromium over titanium dioxide photocatalyst chromic species distribution after photocatalysis. The experimental results show existence strong interactions between these factors. factor was more important than UV light wavelength condition for a 3 mg L?1, whereas both factors became when concentration increased to 20 mgL?1. higher was, less amount retained TiO2 surface. influence oxygen-containing in solution mgL?1 unobvious, its remarkable SA. interaction other environmental factors, such as scavenger (SA this study), is key about degree effect photo-reduction distribution. Simple stirring obtained better efficiency aeration air or gas.
